Kadima’s students come from a wide range of Jewish backgrounds and affiliations. As a member of the Schechter Day School Network (Visit http://schechternetwork.org/ for more information), Kadima is committed to maintaining both authenticity and a feeling of welcoming on our campus.  Our student body is representative of the greater Jewish Community in the San Fernando Valley, with families belonging to a variety of Jewish affiliations, including Conservative, Reform, Modern Orthodox, Reconstructionist, or Outreach based.

Our school is egalitarian. Boys in the elementary school are required to wear kippot throughout the day. Girls are not required to wear kippot, nor are they prohibited from wearing them. In the Middle School, boys are required to wear kippot during Judaic Studies and Hebrew classes, tefillot, and meals.

Kadima maintains a kosher campus.  Snacks and lunches brought from home are required to be dairy or pareve and anything to be shared must be certified kosher. Our dress code aims to create a Jewish, academically-friendly atmosphere, grant our students a sense of dignity, and strengthen their Jewish identity. Clothing worn at Kadima is required to reflect respect for the learning environment, and meet appropriate dress standards of good taste, cleanliness, and neatness. At Kadima, pursuit of academic excellence is built upon a foundation of derech eretz, respectful interpersonal relations. The entire school community — students, educators, staff and parents — seeks to act in ways that reflect kindness, caring and concern; to use language that is thoughtful and sensitive; and to treat each other with respect.
