The arts are essential to every child’s education, and a core part of Kadima’s curriculum. Visual and performing arts as well as music allow us to teach and nurture the whole child.
Beginning in Elementary School, students explore visual arts through two and three dimensional creative expression, including painting, drawing, ceramics and fiber art. Students are exposed to art history, technique and art Masters. Elementary school students work with an art specialist in a dedicated Art studio on a weekly basis. At the start of Middle School, each 6th grade is enrolled in a core Art class, which meets weekly. In 7th and 8th grade, various optional art electives are offered.
Music, musical expression and music awareness is integrated throughout the Kadima curriculum with the goal of instiling an appreciation and enjoyment of music. In both the Early Childhood Education Center and Elementary School, students are instructed by a music specialist in both General and Hebrew / Judaic studies. In Middle School, students have the option of enrolling in various music electives, including performance, songwriting or piano.
Each elementary school grade participates in school performances throughout the school year. Productions have varied from Poetry readings, to thematic productions reflective of what that grade may be studying. Performances provide children with freedom of expression and exposure to public speaking.
