Physical Education at Kadima Day School emphasizes the development of physical skills, improvement in physical-fitness levels, and promotes a healthy lifestyle. Students participate in PE 2 to 3 times per week. PE teachers are experienced professionals with appropriate experience in their field.
The athletic program at Kadima is a dynamic and integral part of the educational experience. The athletic program is complementary, supportive and integrated within the academic program. In addition, it provides meaningful learning opportunities not otherwise offered in the school classroom curriculum. It assists in developing habits, attitudes, and ideals necessary for the ethical competition and cooperation in our society. A well-conducted athletic program fosters the balance between cooperation and competition. Furthermore, the athletic program provides our student-athletes with life-long lessons for personal growth such as sportsmanship, teamwork, ethical behavior, perseverance, commitment, loyalty, self-discipline, pride, responsibility, and leadership skills.
The Kadima Kodiaks participate in the San Fernando Valley Private School League for competitive athletics. Our program hinges on the notion that athletics are not solely about learning to win, but learning to be a leader and a team player. Kadima has an all-inclusive policy – any child that wants to play, gets placed on a team regardless of ability. Beginning in middle school (grades 6-8), girls participate in seasonal sports, including basketball, soccer and volleyball; boys participate in flag football, basketball, soccer and volleyball.
