ECEC Director Randi Riddle announces retirement

Dear Kadima Day School Community,

I am writing to share with you news of a very important change in the leadership of Kadima's Early Childhood Education Center. Randi Riddle, who has led the ECEC for the past ten years, will be retiring at the end of the current school year.

During Randi's tenure at Kadima, the ECEC has grown in both quality and reputation. She has assembled and guided a talented and inspiring group of teachers who, in turn, have nurtured hundreds of young children, helping them thrive and learn in an environment dedicated to ensuring that they reach their full academic, personal, and Jewish potential.
In announcing her retirement, Randi wrote the following message to the Kadima community:

It's been wonderful working with all of the ECEC children and their parents and watching them grow. It's been a particular pleasure to watch them grow through the elementary school and middle school, and it feels like a good time for me to finish up, because my first class is graduating from eighth grade this year. Kadima has been my family, and I look forward to continuing to stay in touch, even as I enjoy my retirement.

Please mark your calendars now! On April 7, 2019, at the Annual Gala, we will honor Randi and express our great admiration for her accomplishments and warm appreciation for her service. Please join us that evening and let Randi feel the depth and breadth of our gratitude.

At the same time, I am excited to announce that Alisha Sela will be joining Kadima as its new Preschool Director beginning July 1, 2019. Alisha brings with her a deep commitment to the education of young children as both a teacher and a leader in formal and informal educational settings. Please join me in welcoming her to our community!

Alisha is currently a transitional kindergarten teacher at the Abraham Joshua Heschel Day School, where she has taught for the past eight years. She previously taught at Sinai Temple and at Jewish day schools in New York and Connecticut. She received her master's degree in early childhood and elementary teaching from Bank Street College of Education in New York and her bachelor's degree in sociology from the University of California at Santa Barbara. Herself a Kadima alumna (Class of 1989), she is married to Rabbi Ahud Sela of Temple Ramat Zion, and together they have three children: Gavi and Yael, both 9th graders at de Toledo High School, and Eitan, a 4th grader at Heschel. Alisha is the daughter of Rabbi David and Bonnie Vorspan and the granddaughter of the late Rabbi Max and Sandy Vorspan.

Alisha is excited to rejoin our Kadima community after an absence of 30 years. Over the next six months, she will be working closely with Randi and the rest of the Kadima team to ensure a smooth transition, and she looks forward to meeting the children and their families at the start of the 2019-20 school year!

Sincerely yours,

Dr. Steven LorchHead of School
